Well I have to say I was a bit floored and dissapointed by the decision that the Mayor is planning to use $280million to put in 350 photo radar cameras thruout Phoenix streets. Under the guise of "Financial Stimulus" Rather than build schools or libraries or daycare centers, we're going to be the biggest speed trap in the US. Ironcially during the mayors state of the state breakfast he made a joke saying we are moving forward "without photo radar slowing us down..." it got applause, but then this comes out. I think we need to make it loud and clear that this is a terrible waste of money that basically puts the burden of the cost on trying to trap who? yep each one of us, into paying for this white elephant. And you can say well yea but thats just to catch the guys that are out there being dangerous...have any of you gotten a photo radar ticket? and they are narrowing the range from 11mph over down to 5mph... and if I don't have your attention yet, take a look a the map for the locations of these little thieves...

Hi Jim -
I'm not sure where you got your information, but apparently this announcement was an April Fool's Day joke put on by radio station KTAR. ------------------------------------------------- April Fool's Day! 350 cameras not coming to Valley April 1st, 2009 @ 5:55pm by KTAR Newsroom News/Talk 92.3 KTAR's Mac and Gaydos revealed Wednesday evening the plan to install 350 speed cameras throughout the Valley was an April Fool's joke. Also a joke: lowering the speed grace limit from 11 miles over to 5 and the Arizona Fast Pass, allowing drivers to pay to speed ahead of time. Thanks to all for playing along and weighing in on the issues! • 350 additional speed cameras to go up on Valley streets • State lowers speed buffer, introduces AZ FAST Pass ------------------------------------------------- Here's the link to KTAR's website (stating text above): http://news.ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1113496 As well as their original April Fool's Day pranks: http://ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1112673 http://news.ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1113088 And not that I necessarily trust Fox News, but they did a story on the prank as well: http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news...ra_hoax_040109 Many thanks to my girlfriend who clued me in on the joke and saved me a lot of time writing a nasty diatribe about crime, punishment, and government waste. ![]() This was a good reminder to me that not everything you hear or read is true, and it's always worthwhile to check your sources.
